Thx, Christopher, valid point - we should include that in SI. We compared to some other potential latent space approaches as you maybe saw.

@BartDeplancke reviving the 70s: his DisCo (deterministic co-encapsulation) method aims to improve droplet sequencing by avoiding incomplete droplets using computer vision. Fun fact: his group working on that is the Techno team. #KSsinglecell
View on X: post of 16 Jan 2019Mind-blowing talk by @priscaliberali at #KSsinglecell measuring >500k intestinal organoids and quantifying heterogeneity during their development - amongst others using pseudotemporal ordering, originally developed for single-cell data.
View on X: post of 16 Jan 2019Plus, they miss out on so much. Nobody later says ‚I should have worked more‘
View on X: post of 16 Jan 2019I found a useful heuristic: avoid working with people who don’t take an active part in their childrens’ lives but pride themselves on how they farm out all of this to their partners. More likely than not they’re unpleasant and selfish to work with.

Hey, need good annotation for training ;)

Good point - this could only work if the algorithm has been exposed to intersubject variation during training. Worthwhile trying out and at the same time example that calls for some metric to evaluate prediction/imputation. #KSsinglecell

Looking forward to contributing to this future platform for molecular health research focusing on #singlecell techniques.
View on X: post of 16 Jan 2019Great news on @LifeTimeFET project! For Helmholtz Munich the scientists Maria Elena Torres-Padilla and @fabian_theis participate in this great project.

Honored to be on panel discussion today about future of #singlecell #compbio, with @dana_peer, Rahul @satijalab and Allon Klein. Suggestions were integration with previous data sets and across omics layers, include real time and potentially learn more mechanistic models.
View on X: post of 15 Jan 2019Great keynote by Scott Fraser on new multimodal microscopy tools, speedup being a big topic. Although I have a hunch that his statement that "any time multiplied by 10^9 is a long time" may not hold. #KSsinglecell
View on X: post of 14 Jan 2019Excited to talk at the Keystone meeting on Single Cell Biology (hosted by Bertie Göttgens and Timm Schroeder) starting now @Breckenridge. 400 people, fully booked, wow. #KSsinglecell
View on X: post of 14 Jan 2019Excited that our paper on batch effect quantification in single-cell RNA-seq is finally out - thanks @marenbuettner and Chichau for taking the lead on this. Great collaboration with Teichmann lab @sangerinstitute. rdcu.be/bd13g

Had this on mine as well (clogged or so, known issue) - hammering the key a bit when holding the laptop vertically actually did help...

View on X: post of 17 Dec 2018OK, 2018 can't end soon enough. Some French high school student translated a part of the Bible and Koran into protein sequence, made an rAAV vector and a cyclic peptide, injected them into either thigh, and then published the following preprint: osf.io/yj8xw/
